The History of MyerConnex
Founded in Silver Spring, Maryland by Edward Myer as a ham radio repair shop that also sold “high fidelity” audio equipment to hobbyists and music lovers.
Ed Myer opens a commercial electronic supply company named EMCO (for Ed Myer Company).
Myer’s Stereo combines with EMCO under the name Myer-Emco and moves to a larger location in Washington D.C.
Myer-Emco expands to three stores with additional locations in Maryland and Virginia.
Myer-Emco named “Retailer of the Year” by Audio-Video International magazine, the first of twenty-five times.
Ed’s son, Jon Myer joins the company as a sales associate.
Jon Myer becomes President and CEO.
Company adds Myer-Emco Security Systems to become full-service provider of installed residential systems.
MyerEmco AudioVideo moves operations to 25,000sf corporate headquarters in Gaithersburg, MD and completes expansion to 10 Washington area retail stores.
Myer-Emco closes all stores and ceases retail operations.
Jon Myer launches MyerConnex with former MyerEmco employees to focus on design and installation of custom audio/video and home automation systems sold direct to the end-user.
MyerConnex acquires Aegis Technologies of Sterling VA, combining two of the leading custom home technology integrators in the DC Metro region.
